Startright has been a fantastic provider for us as a school as it has enriched our curriculum offer for students who have an interest in the construction industry. The staff at Startright have always been incredibly welcoming and understanding of the needs of our students and as a result this has created an environment where they feel safe and are happy to learn.

The skills the students have developed over time at Startright has resulted in them having the confidence to access work experience placements in the construction industry and therefore made them more employable. Many of our students have said they have been able to help out at home with DIY tasks which helps students feel like they are giving something back to their home environment. I would recommend Startright to any student who wanted to learn more about the construction industry.

Hello Startright

Following my conversation with Ste last week; I can confirm that l have spoken to MH’s Mom who previously attended Brades Lodge School. Mom wanted me to pass on her thanks and best wishes to you both.

M attended the Startright pre-16 provision through his school placement. At Startright M was given the opportunity to try different construction trades and this allowed him to identify his preferred career choice. Along with this M was able to improve his confidence, gain an awareness of the world of work and he was fully supported to achieve a recognised qualification. Mom feels that if M had not received the support and encouragement he has from Startright and school  then he would not have been able to successfully go onto Post 16 provision. M is now in his last few weeks of his bricklaying course at Dudley College and he has successfully completed this course and Mom is very proud of his achievements.

Mom was very keen to pass on her thanks and best wishes to you.

“When selecting Alternative Provision strong emphasis is placed on making sure that the placement offers accredited pathways that lead to a wide range of vocational qualifications and support progression at Post 16. 

Startright Training has presented this opportunity to one of our students, who completed the Edexcel BTEC Level 1 Diploma in Construction.  The provision illustrates the success of the Academy’s approach in fully engaging students who face challenging circumstances and have been at serious risk of alienation from mainstream education.
